Flying high

I want to write about Ryan's experience on the Club Med trapeze today. It's not because he executed a spectacular trick while he was up there. Rather, it's because he was brave enough to try it. Okay, it wasn't the scariest thing in the world but I think, for a five year old, it does take some guts. He was the smallest and youngest one in the group and it would have been so easy to say, no I'd rather not try, but he didn't.

He climbed all the way up, following instructions to turn himself around on the ladder midway.

As Ryan was so small, he couldn't reach the platform from the ladder so the crew had to hoist him over. Similarly, he couldn't reach the swing and so they gave him a leg up onto it. They also gave him a lift off, as you can see from the next couple of photos, because otherwise, being so small, he would not have generated enough momentum for a good swing.

Ryan had two tries on the trapeze. He wasn't particularly impressed with it, I have to say. The next day, I asked if he wanted to have another go and he said he much preferred to go swimming.

Here's a video of the little guy in action!
